Michigan State has snagged a starter from a division rival at a key position of need.

The Spartans have reportedly landed former Wisconsin starting linebacker Jordan Turner. Turner was a key contributor in 2023, finishing with the 3rd-most tackles on the Badgers with 61. Turner also added 3 sacks, a forced fumble, and defended 2 passes in 2023.

As a starting LB in Madison, Turner totaled 135 career tackles, 3 INTs, 2 FF & 5 sacks. He and was named All-Big Ten honorable mention in 2022. The linebacker is a native of Farmington, Michigan, which is just over an hour away from East Lansing.

Turner is the 2nd player to officially commit to the Spartans via the portal this offseason. The linebacker joins former Oregon State quarterback Aidan Chiles, who will follow his coach Jonathan Smith to the Spartans. The Spartans have seen 21 players join the portal since the firing of Mel Tucker, so any additions will likely get the chance to play a big role in 2024.
