Michigan State lands on Top 7 list for elite 2022 ATH out of Louisiana
Michigan State lost one commitment Tuesday evening but found itself still in the running for another key prospect before the evening was over.
For the Spartans, three-star DB Jah’von Grigsby announced that he was decommitting from Mel Tucker and MSU. Grigsby did not indicate what led to his decision, but it will be interesting to see where he heads moving forward.
Later on, Jacoby Mathews unveiled his Top 7 list with the Spartans the lone B1G school on a list heavy with SEC and Big 12 schools:

Mathews is an elite prospect, rated as a four-star recruit and the No. 6 safety nationally for the 2022 class. The 247 Sports Composite Rankings also lists Mathews as the No. 70 player nationally for 2022.
Mel Tucker spent 2019 as the head coach at Colorado, but he previously had stints at LSU, Alabama, and Georgia throughout his coaching career. It is likely those ties to the southeast that has the Spartans still in the running for a big prospect like Mathews.
Should Tucker finish the deal and land a commitment from Matthews, it would be a massive win for the Spartans.
