Michigan State is preparing for its first Early Signing Day under new head coach Jonathan Smith. With Wednesday quickly approaching, the Spartans are still making moves to boost the 2024 recruiting class.

Tuesday evening, Michigan State pulled off another big-time piece for the cycle. The commitment comes from Rustin Young, a key offensive tackle and one of the top players from Hawaii for the cycle.

Young is another prospect who originally committed to Smith while he was the head coach at Oregon State. After Smith’s departure, Young re-opened his recruitment and took an official visit to East Lansing on Dec. 15.

According to the 247 Sports Composite, Young is a 3-star offensive tackle and the No. 51 OT in the country. He also rates as the 3rd overall recruit out of Hawaii and joins the Spartans as one of the highest-rated commits as things currently stand.

We’ll see what Wednesday has in store, but Smith is making quick work to build the 2024 recruiting class as much as possible while also mining the transfer portal.
