Michigan State has gone into Ohio to land its most recent commitment of the 2021 recruiting cycle.

Three-star safety A.J. Kirk, the younger brother of former Ohio State star Mike Doss, committed to Michigan State on Tuesday evening. The Columbus native made his announcement with a post on social media, becoming the 16th player of the class to pledge to the Spartans.

Kirk is listed as a 6-foot, 200-pound safety who has received a 3-star rating, per 247Sports. He was recruiting heavily by some power programs, including Nebraska, Notre Dame, Penn State, Purdue and Kentucky.

Doss, Kirk’s older brother, played at Ohio State from 1999-2002. After his career with the Buckeyes, he played six seasons in the NFL.

Michigan State now has two players from the state of Ohio committed in the 2021 class, as well as five defensive backs. Kirk does not currently have any rankings from 247Sports.

The Spartans rank 52nd nationally in the recruiting rankings and are 11th in the B1G.
