Tommy Schuster is coming home. The former Chippewa Valley standout is transferring to Michigan State after rewriting the record books at North Dakota.

Schuster took to social media on Sunday to announce his commitment to play for Jonathan Smith’s program.

Schuster, originally from Macomb, Michigan, heads to East Lansing after 5 seasons at the FCS level. He redshirted in 2019 and will be a 6th-year super senior for the Spartans in 2024, using his COVID-19 waiver for extra eligibility.

A 4-year starter for the Fighting Hawks, Schuster rewrote the program’s record books. Schuster departs North Dakota as the school’s all-time leader in passing yards (9,055) and passing touchdowns (63), while completing 67% of his passes. He helped guide the team to 3 FCS playoff appearances.

Schuster joins a quarterback room that includes fellow transfer Aidan Chiles and 2024 signees Alessio Milivojevic and Ryland Jessee. Schuster included highlights in his Nov. 29 announcement that he would be entering the NCAA transfer portal as a graduate:
