Michigan State cornerback Davion Williams is transferring from the program, according to The Detroit News’ Matt Charboneau.

Williams is a third-year sophomore who has amassed eight tackles this season. Williams has made 23 appearances for the Spartans from 2018-2020, with 14 tackles, one forced fumble, and two fumble recoveries.

Williams arrived at Michigan State as a 3-star recruit out of Belleville (Mich.) High, and was ranked by 247Sports composite as the No. 470 overall prospect and No. 48 cornerback in the Class of 2018.

Williams is the second Michigan State player to transfer today, joining fellow Belleville native, freshman Devontae Dobbs, who was ranked by 247Sports as the nation’s No. 1 offensive guard in the Class of 2019.

Michigan State has posted a 2-5 record this season. Michigan State’s Champions Week contest vs. Maryland was cancelled due to COVID-19 concerns.
