Michigan State loses commitment from IOL in 2024 recruiting class
Michigan State continues to move forward under interim head coach Harlon Barnett following the midseason firing of Mel Tucker. The Spartans registered their first win under Barnett in the game against Nebraska, but the program lost another piece on the recruiting trail.
On Tuesday, 3-star offensive lineman Logan Bennett announced his plans to re-open his recruitment:
“First and foremost, I appreciate the opportunity that Michigan State has given me but I will be decommitting from Michigan State,” wrote Bennett. “I would like to thank the coaching staf, especially coach Kap and coach Lail, for all the time they put into me.”

Bennett is listed at 6-foot-5.5 and 300 pounds as a 3-star IOL prospect out of Baltimore’s St. Frances Academy. The 247 Sports Composite rates Bennett as the No. 106 IOL in the country, and he has generated offers from Colorado, Maryland, Marshall, Boston College and others.
With Bennett’s decision, Michigan State is now down to 9 commitments for the 2024 recruiting class. That is not particularly uncommon for a program operating under an interim coach, but there is certainly a need to add to the group moving forward.
