Michigan State pays tribute to Mylan Hicks two years after tragic death
In 2016, former Michigan State linebacker Mylan Hicks was tragically killed in a night lub shooting in Canada. On the two-year anniversary of his death, the Spartans paid tribute to the former student-athlete.
Tuesday morning, the official Twitter account of Michigan State issued a statement, remembering Hicks and his time in East Lansing.
“Today we remember the life of Mylan “Marlo” Hicks,” the statement read. “He was the embodiment of the Spartan mentality and will always be an example for our players. His impact on our program is something that could never be measured. We miss him every day and we will never forget him. Rest in Peace.”

Hicks was killed on Sept. 25, 2016 at a nightclub in Calgary. He was a member of the CFL’s Calgary Stampeders that season. He was just 23 years old at the time of his death.
Hicks was a key member of Michigan State’s defense from 2010 through 2014.
