Michigan State added to its 2022 recruiting class on Saturday afternoon.

The Spartans received a commitment from 3-star tight end Michael Masunas.

Here’s his announcement:

Masunas is a 3-star prospect according to 247Sports. He does not currently have a Composite rating.

He’s originally from Chandler, Ariz., and attends Hamilton High School. He’s listed at 6-foot-5, 235 pounds.

Masunas chose the Spartans over offers from Florida State, Utah, Arizona, Maryland, Tennessee and others.

Michigan State now has eight commitments in its 2022 recruiting class. According to 247Sports Composite rankings, the Spartans are ranked No. 31 nationally and No. 6 in the Big Ten.

Michigan State is establishing new recruiting pipelines in Year 2 under coach Mel Tucker. The Spartans now have three commitments from Georgia, two from Colorado and two from Arizona. Tucker’s previous stops were at Colorado and Georgia, so he has deep recruiting ties to those areas.

Prospects in the class of 2022 can officially sign with schools during the Early Signing Period in December.
