A Buford, Georgia defensive back is heading to East Lansing.
Monday, 3-star safety Malik Spencer announced via Twitter that he has verbally committed to Michigan State. The 6-foot-2, 192-pound defensive back is ranked as one of the Top 50 players from Georgia and is listed just outside the Top 500 overall prospects in the 2022 recruiting class.
Several major programs offered Spencer, but he picked Michigan State over Arizona State, Auburn, Georgia Tech, Indiana, Miami, Michigan, Minnesota, Nebraska, UCF and USC, among others.

During the 2020 season, Spencer was named an All-Region player and was a starter for a Buford High School team that claimed a state title, finishing with a 13-1 record.
Michigan State is now up to five commitments in the 2022 class. Spencer is the highest-ranked player to commit to Mel Tucker and the Spartans during the cycle. He’s also the second Georgia native to pledge, along with 3-star offensive guard Kristian Phillips out of Conyers.
The Spartans currently rank No. 28 nationally and No. 7 in the B1G with the 2022 class.
