Michigan State University President Samuel Stanley announced he would be stepping down as the university’s president on Thursday.

He cited his concerns for why shortly thereafter, stating that he has “lost  confidence in the actions of the current board of trustees and I can not in good conscience continue to serve this board.”

Though it’s tempting to say this is related to Mel Tucker or the football program, that is likely not the case here. He does, however, represent the 3rd consecutive leader forced out because of issues related to MSU’s handling of sexual misconduct cases following the Larry Nassar scandal.
