Michigan State ranks near the bottom of FBS in important offensive stat
Michigan State has not been in control of its season in 2022. According to Chris Solari of the Detroit Free Press, Michigan State is ranked 129th out of 131 FBS teams in the time of possession this season, with an average of 25:12 minutes per game.

The Spartans have not been impressive on either side of the ball after a tremendous 11-2 season last year. Michigan State ranks 88th in the nation in points per game (27) and 54th in points allowed per game (22.6).
In Week 5, Michigan State lost on the road to Maryland 27-13 as the Spartans hold onto the ball for 23 minutes and 44 seconds. The previous week, Michigan State lost its first B1G game of the 2022 season at home to Minnesota. Michigan State only held onto the ball for 17 minutes and 30 seconds.
