Michigan State RB Kenneth Walker III obliterated his rushing yards goal for Week 1
In his first game for Michigan State, Kenneth Walker III ran all over Northwestern en route to a 38-21 win. He shattered expectations with the effort — most notably his own goals.
Michigan State football tweeted a video of Walker III setting his bar for the Week 1 matchup. How high was it?
Let’s just say he almost got there after one play.
Last week we asked @Kenneth_Walker9 how many yards he would rush for against Northwestern…
You think he reached his goal? 🤔 pic.twitter.com/XTWANKSsPd

Yes. He set a goal of 100 total yards, only to run for 75 on the first play from scrimmage and finish the day with 264 yards on 23 carries. He also scored 4 touchdowns in his Spartans debut.
For his efforts, he was named B1G Offensive Player of the Week by the conference on Monday morning.
Talk about a first impression.
Walker III’s presumptive coming-out party was a welcome sight for Michigan State fans, who watched the run game struggle last season. They can see if he can keep this success going in Week 2 against Youngstown State on Sept. 11 at noon ET on the B1G Network.
