The old saying says, “to the victor goes the spoils.”

Just one year after his Michigan State football team finished in the basement of the B1G East, with just 2 wins through their 7 games, head coach Mel Tucker has the Spartans positioned to make a run at a B1G championship. With identical overall records, MSU, Ohio State and Michigan are in a two week battle for the top spot in the conference division.

The successful turnaround looks to be paying off for Tucker, as the Detroit Free Press is reporting that Michigan State is preparing a historic $95 million, 10-year contract extension to keep Tucker in East Lansing.

On Tuesday night, “Inside the Locker Room” podcast host Brian Mosallam and MSU radio analyst Jason Strayhorn leaked the news, indicating university sources had confirmed that alumni Mat Ishbia and Steve St. Andre were donors for the new contract.

The segment closed with Mosallam emphasizing that the deal is not inked just yet and that they aren’t reporting anything has been signed just yet. He and Strayhorn did indicate they are confident that the deal is imminent.

Stay tuned.
