Michigan State saw another player hit the portal since the hiring of Jonathan Smith in the form of defensive back Charles Brantley. The number of players who have done so since the hiring is now at 15.

Brantley kept his announcement short and sweet on Saturday after 3 seasons in East Lansing. Brantley started the 1st 3 games at corner before he suffered a season-ending injury that caused him to miss the last 9 games.

The Michigan State defensive back appeared in 22 games from 2021-2023. He accounted for 76 total tackles, 3 tackles for loss, 2 interceptions, and 1 sack over the last 3 years.

The other Spartans who entered the portal on Saturday include Dre Butler and reportedly Khris Bogle.

The Spartans have some corners in its 2024 class. MSU has verbal commitments from 3-star commits Jaylen Thompson and Justin Denson.

Michigan State ended the year at 4-8 after going 2-2 in its final 4 games. The exodus from East Lansing continues throughout a coaching change.
