Michigan State fell behind early vs. Rutgers, but it didn’t take long for the Spartans to catch up.

Payton Thorne hit receiver Jalen Nailor for an impressive 63-yard touchdown pass to tie the game early in the first quarter. It’s just the latest explosive play from a Spartans offense that has gotten in the habit of making them this season.

Here’s the play:

Nailor has been one of Michigan State’s best playmakers this season, alongside running back Kenneth Walker III and receiver Jayden Reed. This was Nailor’s fourth touchdown of the year, which matches a career-high.

He now has 10 scores in his career. He came into today’s game averaging 14.9 yards per reception for the Spartans this season.

Michigan State is 5-0 coming into this game. With a win, the Spartans would achieve bowl eligibility for the first time since 2019. Michigan State would also have a good chance to win more than 7 games for the first time since 2017.

Michigan State is 8-4 all-time against the Scarlet Knights.
