Michigan State track athlete Tony Martin was killed in a gas station shooting that occurred in Saginaw, Michigan early Sunday morning, according to the Detroit Free Press. He was 19 years old.
Another man was also killed in the shooting according to the report. No other details were provided at the time of the story. Michigan State’s track program issued a statement on social media following the news.

Martin was a freshman on Michigan State’s track and field team in 2019-20. His first competition as a Spartan was at the Grand Valley State University Holiday Open on Dec. 6. He had a pair of top-five finishes in the 60-meter and 200-meter sprints.
Martin also competed in the 4×400 relay and long jump while at Michigan State.
Before attending Michigan State, Martin was a star athlete at Saginaw High School.
