Michigan State receiver Ricky White was the best true freshman in the country for Week 2, according to Pro Football Focus.

He received a 90.6 grade and was named true freshman of the week for his performance against Michigan:

White was completely unstoppable, catching eight passes for 196 yards and a touchdown. His yardage made up nearly 61 percent of quarterback Rocky Lombardi’s passing yards.

As it turns out, White may have been under-recruited. He’s a Marietta, Ga., native who was the No. 70 overall receiver in the class of 2020 according to 247Sports Composite rankings.

Michigan State also got a big effort from true freshman running back Jordon Simmons. He finished with a team-high 55 rushing yards on 14 carries. Like White, Simmons went under the radar as a 3-star recruit and was the No. 43 overall running back in the 2020 recruiting cycle.

Michigan State plays at Iowa in Week 3 of Big Ten action.
