After a huge week on the hardwood, Michigan State guard Cassius Winston has received some national recognition.

On Monday, Winston was named the Naismith Men’s Player of the Week after averaging 26.5 points, 7.5 assists, 3 rebounds and a steal in Michigan State’s wins over Illinois and Michigan this past week. The Spartans defeated Illinois 76-56 and Michigan 87-69.

Against Illinois, Winston scored 21 points and dished out six assists in 25 minutes. Sunday, the senior guard had a career day, scoring 32 points and getting nine assists. He had one steal in each game.

With the two victories, Michigan State improved to 12-3 on the season and is now 4-0 in the B1G, the only undefeated team remaining in the conference. Winston is currently the team’s leading scorer and assist man, averaging 18.9 points and 6.3 assists per contest.

Michigan State will host Minnesota on Jan. 9 in East Lansing.
