The Michigan Sports Hall of Fame’s class of 2022 finalists were announced on Friday. Two former Spartan greats made the list.

Former Michigan State football RB Lorenzo White and Spartan MBB PG Shawn Respert were both named as finalists.

White played running back for Michigan State from 1984-1987 and ran for 4,887 yards rushing. He also 4th is Heisman voting in 1985 and 1987. After Michigan State, he was drafted by the Houston Oilers in the 1st round of the 1988 NFL Draft.

Respert was the PG in East Lansing from 1990-1995. He averaged 21.3 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 2.5 assists throughout his Michigan State career. Respert was drafted by the Portland Trailblazers with the 8th overall pick in the 1995 NBA Draft.

Other Michigan Sports figures that are being considered for the 2022 class are Jim Harbaugh, Chris Webber, Jake Long, Ivan ‘Pudge’ Rodriguez, and Antonio Gates among many others.
