WATCH: Officials appear to miss targeting call on hit in Michigan-MSU game
It seems like nobody has any idea what a targeting call is these days.
Players are getting ejected for tackles that look routine, and the rule seems to have a variety of definitions. One of them is that a player cannot lead with the crown of the helmet and aim for an opposing player’s head.
On a punt return in the second quarter of the Michigan-Michigan State game, it appeared that was exactly what happened.
Still, there was no call on this hit:

Chris Frey was shaken up by the play and was taken off the field. Officials did not review the play.
Surely that won’t sit well with Michigan State fans.
