If you’ve been listening or consuming anything related to Michigan football since Jim Harbaugh took over, you’ve probably heard it.

“Those who stay will become champions.”

Michigan isn’t the first program to use it, but they’re certainly known for using those words as a bit of a recruiting pitch.

Michigan State had an awfully similar phrase on one of its recruiting images that featured Detroit-to-MSU players. Although instead of “will become champions,” MSU had something else:

“Already” sure packs a lot of weight. And by pointing out that every MSU player who has stayed four years in the Mark Dantonio era has won a B1G Championship, one can’t help but wonder if that’s a jab at Michigan.

The Wolverines haven’t won a B1G Championship since 2004, which obviously isn’t lost on the Spartans. MSU won’t come out and admit that it’s shade thrown at Michigan, but it’d be a rather large coincidence if it wasn’t.

Hey, we only have two more months until these schools get to play each other again.
