Michigan State ended the season on a high note.

And as a result, the Spartans are back in the top five.

Following their destruction of Penn State on Saturday, the Spartans climbed to No. 5 in the latest Associated Press poll. Michigan State’s B1G East-clinching win also all but guaranteed that it would have a chance to play for a spot in the College Football Playoff in Saturday’s B1G Championship against Iowa.

Speaking of Iowa, the Hawkeyes led the way for the six B1G teams that made the top 25. Iowa was the only B1G team ahead of MSU at No. 4 while Ohio State bounced back with a 29-point win against Michigan, which was good for the No. 6 spot.

With Michigan’s loss, the Wolverines fell behind Oregon all the way to No. 19.

The Spartans have played arguably their two best games of the season heading into Saturday’s showdown in Indianapolis. With a win, MSU could be set up with a top-three seed in the College Football Playoff.
