All it took was one win.

Michigan State got back moving in the right direction in the Associated Press poll after taking care of Maryland on Saturday. The Spartans jumped five spots and came in at No. 9 in the top 25.

In a week that saw four top-10 teams go down, the Spartans benefitted, as did other B1G teams.

A total of six B1G teams — more than any other conference — earned spots in the AP top 25. All five of the conferences teams that were in action on Saturday picked up wins.

Ohio State held true at No. 2 while Iowa jumped up to No. 6, Michigan climbed to No. 13, idle Wisconsin moved to No. 21 and Northwestern came in at No. 20.

The Spartans still have a chance to win the B1G East title, but it’ll have to knock off two of the conference’s best.

The much-anticipated showdown against Ohio State is next Saturday and a regular-season finale against Penn State won’t make MSU’s road to the College Football Playoff an easy one.
