Khari Willis delivered an incredible keynote speech at B1G Media Days in July, urging players from across the conference to reach out and assist in the community. This week, Michigan State did its part in building that strong relationship with its own community.

Wednesday, students from Post Oak Academy involved with the Lansing Promise stopped by the Spartans practice for a meet-and-greet with some of the players and coaches on the staff. A few photos were posted from the children in attendance, and it looked like everyone enjoyed themselves.

According to its website, the Lansing Promise is a scholarship program that offers tuition assistance. From the website:

The Lansing Promise is a scholarship program offering tuition assistance for post-secondary (college or skilled trade) education to all eligible high school graduates within the Lansing School District boundaries. The Promise provides tuition assistance for up to 65 credits at Lansing Community College or the equivalent dollar amount toward tuition and fees at Michigan State University or Olivet College.

Michigan State football has hosted many events with the Lansing Promise over the last few years, participating in different events and occasionally giving students a behind-the-scenes look at practice.

Last year, every student-athlete on Michigan State’s football team had volunteered to help the Lansing Promise.
