MSU holds moment of silence for Zachary Winston, Cassius starts following loss of his brother
Cassius Winston is indeed playing Sunday evening following the loss of his brother on Saturday evening.
The tragic story was reported by Chris Solari with the Detroit Free Press. According to that report, Zachary Winston, Cassius’ brother, was struck by an Amtrak train and killed in Albion, Michigan. Zachary and Khy, Winston’s brothers, were teammates at Albion College.

Following the tragic incident, Michigan State held a moment of silence for Zachary ahead of Sunday evening’s game against Binghamton. MSU head coach Tom Izzo was visibly emotional during the moment.

True to a Sunday afternoon report, Winston did, in fact, suit up and started for the game. It is definitely an emotional moment for Cassius. The BTN broadcast did indicate Winston’s brother, Khy, was on hand for the game, along with his mom and dad.

Winston has played well so far as the Spartans have opened up a lead over Binghamton. With just over seven minutes to go before halftime, Winston has five points, four assists, a rebound, and a steal.
