MSU's QBs 'may know' who is starting, but Mel Tucker staying secretive
There may be someone, somewhere who actually knows who the Michigan State starting quarterback is going to be against Northwestern on Saturday, then again, someone may not.
But if they do, they aren’t talking about it.
In his Tuesday press conference, MSU head coach Mel Tucker said that “they may know” when talking about his players and who will be at QB.
Tucker said "they may know" who is going to start at QB, meaning Russo, Thorne and the players. "I'm not gonna lie to you. That's something I won't do."

Throughout camp, redshirt sophomore Payton Thorne has been going head-to-head with Temple transfer Anthony Russo in a battle for the starting spot behind center in the opener. It appears that Tucker and his staff are taking a strategic move in keeping the starter from the public, looking to keep the Wildcats from being able to prepare for the playing styles of either quarterback.
But Tucker claims they aren’t trying to fool anyone by delaying the reveal.
Tucker: "We'll see who lines up out there and we'll go out and play. But we're not trying to fool anyone. It's a Big Ten game. It's gonna be about execution and playing hard."
