Multiple Spartans didn't make trip to Evanston for opener vs. Northwestern

Michigan State has several players who are not in Evanston ahead of the season opener against Northwestern.

In total, 10 players did not make the trip before the game with Northwestern.

Among the notables not on the trip for MSU: TE Maliq Carr, DB CJ Hayes, QB Hamp Fay, WR Ricky White, RB Davion PRimm, DB Khary Crump, DE Brandon Wright, S AJ Kirk, TE Adam Berghorst, DE Avery Dunn.

This is Mel Tucker’s second season with the Spartans. His first season with the team was a rocky one where the Spartans finished 2-5

However, the 2 wins for the Spartans were against the Michigan Wolverines and the Northwestern Wildcats.

The Spartans play 4 AP Top-25 opponents this season.

Michigan State last season beat Northwestern 29-20 at home but this season they are breaking in a new QB  Payton Thorne. Transfer Temple Anthony Russo may also see action tonight in Evanston, IL.
