If Nick Ward had one last chance to prove he belongs on an NBA roster, he certainly took advantage in the Atlanta Hawks’ Summer League finale on Friday night.

The former Spartan big man showed up in full force on Friday, finishing the night with a double-double to help lead the Hawks to an 80-72 victory over the San Antonio Spurs. Ward ended his day with 16 points and 13 rebounds in the win.

Ward also finished the night with three blocks.

Ward signed an undrafted free agent deal with the Hawks after going unselected in the 2019 NBA Draft. That deal essentially gave Ward the opportunity to play with the organization through Summer League, and now, it’s up to the team on whether or not he’s done enough to earn a contract.

In five games with the Hawks over Summer League, Ward averaged 6.6 points, 6.4 rebounds and 1.2 blocks per games. Atlanta wrapped up its summer play with a 2-3 record.
