OC Jay Johnson says Michigan State's top two receivers will be available for Peach Bowl
Michigan State’s top two receivers will be available for Thursday evening’s Peach Bowl game against Pitt. Offensive coordinator Jay Johnson provided an update on Tuesday morning.
According to Chris Solari of the Detroit Free Press, both Jalen Nailor and Jayden Reed will be active and available for the Peach Bowl. It’s big news for Michigan State’s passing attack and puts some playmakers on the field for the Spartans, especially with star running back Kenneth Walker III opting out.
Reed led the squad in all three major receiving categories, hauling in 53 catches for 946 yards and 8 touchdowns. Nailor had 587 yards and 6 touchdowns on 31 receptions, ranking second on the team in all areas.
Nailor missed 4 games during the regular season due to injury.

With Walker out, Michigan State is going to have to lean on the arm of Payton Thorne and the playmakers in the passing attack to provide offensive explosiveness. It should make for an interesting matchup against Pitt down in Atlanta.
The Peach Bowl is scheduled for Dec. 30 with kickoff coming at 7 p.m. ET. The game will air on ESPN.
