Michigan State went on to win the Big Ten East thanks to this win over the Wolverines. They defeated Iowa in the B1G championship game and finished the regular season 12-1.
The rest of the story is not as fun. Michigan State suffered one of the all-time beatdowns in the Cotton Bowl CFP semifinal matchup, falling to Alabama 38-0.
Michigan went on to win the Citrus Bowl over Florida, 41-7. They finished with a 10-3 record.
