Michigan and Michigan State likely won’t be very competitive this year.

The Spartans are nosediving and fell to Rutgers last week after leading early. Michigan, however, is 7-0 and has destroyed every opponent it has faced thus far.

So let’s think back to a more competitive time, one where Michigan State beat the Wolverines in one of the wildest endings to a game in recent memory.

On this day in history, October 17, 2015, Wolverines punter Blake O’Neill had trouble with the snap. The rest is history:

Michigan State went on to win the Big Ten East thanks to this win over the Wolverines. They defeated Iowa in the B1G championship game and finished the regular season 12-1.

The rest of the story is not as fun. Michigan State suffered one of the all-time beatdowns in the Cotton Bowl CFP semifinal matchup, falling to Alabama 38-0.

Michigan went on to win the Citrus Bowl over Florida, 41-7. They finished with a 10-3 record.
