Michigan State will likely have its hands full in the Redbox Bowl.

The Spartans discovered their bowl destination Sunday afternoon. They will head to San Francisco to take part in the Redbox Bowl against the Oregon Ducks.

Oregon finished the season 8-4 with some up-and-down results, but the Ducks did finish the year with back-to-back wins. The Ducks scored 86 points combined in those two victories.

Oregon head coach Mario Cristobal also shed some light Sunday evening on the status of star QB Justin Herbert. Herbert is widely regarded as one of the best NFL prospects at the position and injured his shoulder in Oregon’s season finale against Oregon State.

According to James Crepea with The Oregonian, Cristobal indicated that the injury was not serious. He also went on to say that Herbert will play in the bowl game against the Spartans:

“He took a good shot on the play where he was sacked where he went to the ground. It’s essentially a really deep bruise, is what it is. But he’s OK and he’s good to go and he’s looking forward to playing in the game…In terms of after the game and decisions after, that is something we’ll discuss at a later time,” Cristobal said. “But you can expect he’ll play in the game.”

Hopefully the Spartans can contain Herbert and the high-flying Ducks in the bowl showdown.
