Payton Thorne has a big role for Michigan State and its offense in the first season without running back Kenneth Walker III. Through the first two games of the 2022 season, Thorne is absolutely not happy with his passing citing inconsistency issues.

After the big win over Akron, Thorne referenced his turnovers as “not acceptable” as the quarterback of the Spartans. He also said some of his issues are “pissing me off” because they are issues he has not traditionally struggled with.

In the 52-0 win at home over Akron in Week 2, Thorne completed 18-of-28 of his passes for 212 yards, 0 touchdowns, and 2 interceptions. It is the third game he has thrown 2 interceptions and his first since the 37-33 win at home over No. 6 Michigan.

In the Week 1 35-13 win at home over Western Michigan, Thorne completed 12-of-24 of his passes for 233 yards, 4 touchdowns, one interception, and a QBR of 68.2.

Thorne looks to have this consistency issue fixed when No. 14 Michigan State goes on the road to take on Washington.
