Payton Thorne had some mixed feelings on how he played after he watched the tape from the Western Michigan game. He knows that there are some things he can improve on per Chris Solari of the Detroit Free Press.
Throne had 233 yards with 4 touchdowns and 1 interception in the win. Thorne believes he needs to get better at deep balls. He said he just needs to correct that and move forward.
MSU QB Payton Thorne said he watched the film Friday night and Saturday after the opener. Felt offense did good things, disappointed with deep balls he missed. “Just got to correct that and move forward.”

Another thing the Michigan State QB will be looking at not having in the future is too many “what-ifs”. It looks like he wants to have more of a complete showing.
Thorne says watching the tape, he feels MSU could have at least two more TDs vs. WMU with a few what-ifs. “The goal though is to look back (at the film) and not have those. No if this, if that. No, we didn’t do it.”

Lastly, he spoke about what the tight ends bring to the offense. Thorne personally likes having more options to throw to, and having guys that can cause matchup problems is always a plus.
“I think it gives us a lot of different looks that we can play with,” said Thorne. “We got some guys that can be matchup issues.”
