Michigan State hoops have their season opener against Eastern Michigan on Wednesday and it’s still a mystery as to who’s going to be the starting point guard.

Earlier Monday, Rocket Watts spoke about the battle and he’s unsure if it’s going to be himself or Foster Loyer at the position:

Spartans assistant coach Dwayne Stephens also commented on the matter and he’s pretty high on how deep the team is when it comes to starters. He was mum on who will start at the one while also highlighting depth at center:

Finally, Spartans guard Joshua Langford offered his two cents on the battle and he seems to think Loyer is better suited for the role:

No one will likely know who will start until the official lineup is posted but the smart bet may still be on Watts.

Last season, he averaged nine points per game and shot about 39 percent from the field. Loyer only averaged 2.9 points per game for the Spartans, though he did shoot nearly 45 percent from the field.
