A former Michigan State defensive lineman has reportedly found a new home.

Per Steve Bartle of 247Sports, Mufi Hunt is expected to join the Utah football program as a walk-on. He spent three seasons in East Lansing before deciding to enter the transfer portal and explore his options outside Michigan State.

Hunt is a native of Utah, so his return will be a homecoming. He completed his degree while with the Spartans, so he will be immediately eligible as a graduate transfer for the Utes.

According to 247Sports, Hunt is a former three-star prospect and was one of the top 40 defensive ends in the 2016 recruiting cycle.

Injuries hindered Hunt’s career with the Spartans. He played in just two games for MSU in 2017 and suffered a season-ending injury against Ohio State. Hunt did not play in the 2018 season.

Utah is projected to be one of the top teams in the Pac-12 this year.
