Report: Mel Tucker hires Colorado assistant to coach Michigan State offensive line
Mel Tucker continues to piece together his staff at Michigan State. On Monday, the new head coach was able to convince one of his former assistants from Colorado to join him in East Lansing, according to a report.
ESPN’s Adam Rittenberg reported on Monday that Michigan State is hiring Chris Kapilovic to be the next offensive line coach. He was in the same role at Colorado. Kaplivoc was also previously at North Carolina as the offensive line coach.
FootballScoop also reported the news about the move.

Hiring the offensive staff will be key for Tucker this offseason, as Michigan State’s offense has sputtered over the last two seasons. It’s a big reason why the Spartans finished the last two seasons with 7-6 records in back-to-back years, rather than competing for B1G titles.
Offensive line play has been a particular issue in East Lansing.
