Report: Mel Tucker, Spartans inching forward with 'friendly' negotiations over contract extension
Michigan State is having a spectacular season so far, albeit the upset loss to Purdue last weekend 40-29.
Head coach Mel Tucker has done wonders with the Spartans as he has them sitting at No. 7 in the country and 8-1 on the year.
Rumors were swirling that Mel Tucker might be on the move after the season with high-profile jobs open.
Michigan State is reportedly close to an extension with Tucker, according to Colin Cowherd of FOX Sports.
I’m told Mel Tucker & MSU are close to a new deal. Negotiations are friendly and moving quickly. This isn’t Colorado. MSU is all in on football. Contract offer is huge. Reminder, Dan Gilbert is billionaire alum. He and donor Mat Ishbia all in.

Tucker has turned the fortunes of the Spartans around in just 2 seasons with the team.
The Spartans still have everything in front of them and have a chance to get Indianapolis and potentially the College Football Playoff.
Spartan fans were unhappy when they got ranked behind bitter rival the Michigan Wolverines after beating the Wolverines just 2 weeks ago.
The Spartans still have No. 5 Ohio State and Penn State on the schedule.
Michigan State hosts Maryland today at 4:00 ET on FOX.
