Report: Michigan State, Mel Tucker closing in on monumental contract extension

Mel Tucker has revitalized the Michigan State football program this season and as a reward, he’ll set to rake in a ton of cash.
The coach, in his second season at the helm of the Spartans, is about to earn a contract extension that will see him earn over $8 million a year, according to 247Sports.
This figure will make Tucker the highest-paid African-American head coach in sports:

No. 7 Michigan State is currently 9-1 overall and second place in the B1G East. The Spartans bounced back from their first loss with a 40-21 victory vs. Maryland.
Next up for Michigan State is a massive road clash at No. 4 Ohio State. The 9-1 Buckeyes are first place in the B1G East. Ohio State leads the all-time series 34-15 and is on a five-game winning streak vs. Michigan State in the series. The last victory for the Spartans against the Buckeyes came in 2015.
