Report: Michigan State punter no longer listed on roster
Michigan State punter Jack Bouwmeester is no longer listed on the team roster, according to a report from Chris Solari of the Detroit Free Press.
Solari tweeted out on Tuesday that Bouwmeester is no longer a member of the MSU roster. He was with the Spartans for one season, but did not play during the 2019 campaign. He was a member of last year’s recruiting class.
MSU program spokesman confirms that punter Jack Bouwmeester is no longer on the roster. Bryce Baringer is back as a walk-on after entering his name in the NCAA transfer portal.

With Jake Hartbarger using his eligibility up last fall, Michigan State is now in a pinch at the punter position. The battle will likely come down to Bryce Baringer and Tyler Hunt, both will be redshirt juniors for the 2020 season.
Hunt punted 36 times during the 2018 season, averaging 40.1 yards on 36 attempts. He filled in for Hartbarger that year, who suffered an injury early in the year against Arizona State. Later that season, Hunt also sustained an injury, which put Baringer in the primary role.
Baringer has booted the ball 15 times and averaged 32.4 yards per kick during the 2018 season.
