Michigan State is set to hire their new Athletic Director and they won’t have to go far to do it.

According to Chris Solari of the Detroit Free Press, the Spartans are expected to name Alan Haller as the school’s new AD later this week. The school was also interviewing Auburn AD Allen Greene but decided to go internally for this hire.

Haller has been with the school for the last 35 years and even played on the football team from 1988-1991. His most recent role has been the “deputy director” as he was Bill Beekman’s right-hand man.

Beekman recently stepped down as AD of the Spartans and is moving to a different role with the school. He will now be the Vice President for Strategic Initiatives.

Even though the announcement is expected to be later this week, the Spartans Board of Trustees still has to approve the hiring. According to Solari, the next meeting is scheduled for Sept. 10.
