Recent photo evidence submitted from a recruit’s mother’s sworn affidavit may dispute Mark Dantonio’s claims that he did not violate NCAA rules while meeting with a five-star recruit in his home in 2015, according to a recent report.

An ongoing lawsuit levied against Michigan State and Dantonio by former staffer Curtis Blackwell has brought to light the possibility of the program committing NCAA violations during the recruiting process. While those claims been denied by Dantonio and his attorneys, the recent photo evidence disputes the denial.

Tony Paul of the Detroit News is reporting that Blackwell’s attorneys presented photo evidence that Dantonio committed an NCAA violation while visiting former five-star recruit Daelin Hayes. The photos came from La Keshia Neal, the mother of Daelin Hayes, and were submitted in a sworn affidavit.

Neal claims that Dantonio, Blackwell and two other Michigan State coaches were in her home in December 2015. The photo appears to show Mike Tressel and Harlon Barnett on the trip. Neal also said she made the coaches breakfast that day, and a photo of the meal was also submitted from that day.

Hayes committed to Notre Dame, where he still plays.

From the Detroit Free Press:

The photos and affidavit purports to show Dantonio, in a sworn deposition, and athletic director Bill Beekman, in comments to the press, lied about Blackwell’s activities on behalf of MSU and could prompt an investigation and sanctions from the NCAA.

MSU, on Tuesday, acknowledged to The News it is “investigating” the claims

During his deposition in January, before he stepped down as coach after 13 seasons and a record as the winningest coach in program history earlier this month, Dantonio was asked if Blackwell ever went with him to visit recruits in their homes. Dantonio responded, “No.”

Dantonio also was asked if that would’ve been a violation of NCAA rules, and Dantonio responded, “Yes.”

Dantonio also claimed that Blackwell may have accompanied him on recruiting visits, but did not enter the homes of those recruits. Blackwell’s attorneys said the former head coach’s deposition “may constitute perjury.”

Dantonio surprisingly stepped down as head coach earlier this month after 13 seasons as head coach at Michigan State. He was replaced by former Colorado head coach Mel Tucker.
