The Seattle Seahawks drafted former Michigan State DL Malik McDowell in the second round of the 2017 NFL Draft, but he had been projected as a first-round pick.

However, an ATV accident caused him to fall into the second round, where the Seahawks picked him with the No. 35 overall selection.

Now, though, they are cutting ties with the former Spartan, according to a report from NFL.com’s Ian Rapoport:

McDowell missed the entire 2017 season with a concussion suffered from the ATV accident, and apparently has yet to be cleared this offseason.

He also was arrested in December for an incident in Atlanta, so clearly the Seahawks feel like it’s time to move on. Whether he gets another chance in the NFL remains to be seen, but if he’s healthy, he could offer a team quite a bit.
