One of Mel Tucker’s staffers at Michigan State is heading down to Texas to team up with Steve Sarkisian, according to a report.

ESPN’s Adam Rittenberg reported Friday that graduate assistant and analyst Cordae Hankton will be leaving Michigan State for a position as a defensive analyst at Texas. Hankton has been on Tucker’s staff at Colorado and Michigan State the past two seasons.

According to his profile on MSUSpartans.com, Hankton was a graduate assistant on the defensive side of the football last season with the Spartans. He was an offensive graduate assistant at Colorado under Tucker in 2019.

Hankton got his coaching start at the high school level. He started at Archbishop Rummel High School in New Orleans, where he worked from 2012-17 before taking a job at John Ehret High School in 2018. Tucker then hired Hankton to join the Buffaloes staff before the 2019 campaign.

Hankton was a defensive back at Jackson State (FCS) and earned two letters in 2006 and 2007.
