Spartans move up in Coaches Poll following big win over Oregon
The coaches might have been wrong to rank Oregon ahead of Michigan State last week.
After Saturday night’s showdown, Michigan State showed it was the better team. As a result, the Spartans hurdled the Ducks in the Coaches Poll.
Michigan State moved up to No. 4 in the Coaches Poll following last night’s 31-28 victory against Oregon in East Lansing. It was the first victory by any team in college football over a top-10 team.
The Spartans earned their highest ranking in the Coaches Poll since the end of the 2013-14 season, when they were ranked No. 3 following their defeat of Stanford in the Rose Bowl.
The Spartans don’t have a game against a ranked team until they take on No. 1 Ohio State on Nov. 21. The defending national champion Buckeyes handed Michigan State its only conference loss in 2014. To get to a Big Ten Championship, they’ll likely have to knock off Ohio State in Columbus.
Air Force will come to East Lansing next Saturday to take on Michigan State.
