It wasn’t the best day for former Michigan State players on the Houston Texans roster.

The Texans cut former Spartans Max Bullough and Keith Mumphery after both players earned negative headlines this offseason.

The Detroit Free Press reported that Mumphery was expelled from MSU because of a violation of the university’s sexual misconduct policy. That became public two years after Mumphrey was drafted in the fifth round by the Texans.

He had 24 catches for 198 yards in two seasons.

Bullough was cut after violating the league’s substance abuse policy. The violation earned Bullough a four-game suspension. The suspension will follow Bullough, who played in 30 games in his first three NFL seasons.

Both players helped MSU get to the Rose Bowl in 2013.
