Tom Izzo explained the benefits of playing a tough early-season schedule.

Izzo said the tough stretch will benefit the Spartans later in the year, because “what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger.” Izzo also mentioned that his players shouldn’t be scared of anyone later due to the gauntlet of teams they’ve already faced.

The Spartans have faced tough games against Gonzaga, Kentucky, Villanova, Alabama, and Northwestern already. The Spartans have handled the stretch relatively well, earning wins over Kentucky and Villanova.

With a win over Brown on Saturday, the Spartans improved to 7-4 on the season.
