Michigan State topped Loyola-Chicago 63-61 in the quarterfinals of the Bad Boy Mowers Battle 4 Atlantis.

Michigan State (4-1) gave Loyola-Chicago its first loss of the season thanks to a ridiculous alley-oop finish by Marcus Bingham Jr., moving the Spartans to 4-1 on the year.

However, the story of this game was the performance of forward Malik Hall. Hall had a career-high 24 points and went a perfect 9–for-9 from the field, 1-for-1 from three-point range, and 5-for-5 from the charity stripe. He finished with 7 seven rebounds as well.

Michigan State head coach Tom Izzo had a great response when asked about Hall’s performance, joking about why Hall wasn’t able to get 10 rebounds, per Kyle Austin of MLive.com.

Though a double-double would have been nice, Hall still produced some crucial buckets in his 2nd start of the season. We will see if Hall can top this performance as the Spartans take on the winner of Auburn-UConn next.

The Semifinal round of the Bad Boy Mowers Battle 4 Atlantis will be Thursday at 12 p.m. ET on ESPN.
