Kyle Ahrens’ absence from the Michigan State lineup is expected to last just one game, head coach Tom Izzo said on Sunday morning. The redshirt senior is planning to play against Purdue in Mackey Arena.

This week, Ahrens missed Michigan State’s 74-58 victory over Minnesota with an Achilles/ankle injury. He was said to be day-to-day heading into the Purdue game, but Izzo said the expectation is for him to see the floor, Chris Solari of the Detroit Free Press reported.

The game against Minnesota was the first contest Ahrens has missed since an injury late last season cost him the opportunity to play in the NCAA Tournament.

Ahrens has appeared in 15 games for the Spartans this season, averaging 13.4 minutes and 3.5 points per game. He’s shooting 41 percent from the floor and 35.5 percent from 3-point range so far. He’s also posting an average of 1.5 rebounds per contest.

Michigan State heads into Sunday’s contest against Purdue with a 5-0 record in B1G play, the only team in the conference still unbeaten. Overall, the Spartans are 13-3 on the season.  The Boilermakers are 9-7 on the year with a 2-3 mark in B1G play.

The Spartans have not won a game in Mackey Arena since 2014.
