Tom Izzo and Jaden Akins gave timetables for Akins’ return from injury. The pair spoke about it at B1G Basketball Media Days.

The Detroit News’ Matt Charboneau revealed what Izzo said at the podium about Akins. Izzo stated that Akins will be out for a “couple more weeks.”

Akins has been recovering from offseason surgery to repair a stress reaction in his left foot. Akins averaged 3.4 points, 2.4 rebounds, and 0.7 assists per game last season, but is expected to step into a much larger role in 2022.

Akins is feeling good about where’s he at and said that he expects to be ready for the season opener on Nov. 7, and is close to returning to the practice court according to Mlive’s Kyle Austin.

Michigan State faces off against Northern Arizona to kick off the year. The game will be played at 7 p.m. ET. There is no channel for the game just yet.
